We pride ourselves on responsible laning, respecting local communities, wildlife, and the countryside code. Whether you’re new to off‑roading or a seasoned laner, our guided tours combine adventure with peace of mind, letting you focus on the thrill of the drive and the beauty of the landscape.

What We Ask of You

To keep every tour safe, enjoyable, and respectful, we ask all participants to bring the right attitude and preparation:

GreenLaning Tours is built on teamwork, respect, and adventure. Together, we make every outing a safe, memorable experience that celebrates the joy of off‑road exploration.

Important Information & What to Expect

Our routes take us through natural, often unmaintained byways, so light contact with branches, bushes, and undergrowth is always possible. While damage is uncommon, we can’t guarantee your vehicle won’t pick up the odd scratch, scuff, or mark, driving off‑road is always at your own risk. Tyres may also experience some sidewall rubbing depending on your driving style and the terrain. And yes, your vehicle may get muddy inside and out and there’s a chance you will too, so please dress for the outdoors with waterproofs, warm layers, and sturdy footwear.

All routes are public highways and must be treated as such. Every vehicle must be taxed, insured, MOT‑compliant, and safe to drive, and all drivers must hold a full driving licence.

Off‑road tyres are ideal, though many modern 4×4 systems perform surprisingly well even on road‑biased tyres. If you’re unsure about your vehicle’s suitability, just ask as we’re always happy to advise. Bookings are confirmed by email, and payment is made via bank transfer once you receive your invoice.

How to Prepare for Your Tour

Some off‑road‑capable vehicles have a low‑range gearbox, if so please check that it works before joining us. Any existing mechanical issues should be fixed ahead of time, as off‑road driving will quickly expose weaknesses, and recovering a broken‑down vehicle from a lane can be difficult and costly. Before setting off, give your vehicle a quick “mini‑MOT”: check oil, coolant, lights, and tyre condition.

All‑terrain or mud‑terrain tyres are preferred, though some routes may be suitable for road‑oriented tyres depending on the vehicle, please contact us beforehand if you’re unsure. A full‑size spare wheel is essential, and it’s worth checking the pressure before you leave home. Front and rear recovery points are required; screw‑in types or standard towing eyes are usually fine for unsurfaced roads, and most modern Land Rover points are rated for recovery.

Please follow the GLASS Code of Conduct and the Countryside Code throughout the day. Bring enough food, water, and fuel for the full trip, along with warm and waterproof clothing. Our guides carry recovery ropes and shovels, but having your own kit is always useful.

Our Tour Levels

Beginner – Easy Laning – Yorkshire Dales – £65 per day

On our easiest‑level green laning routes, drivers can expect a relaxed, confidence‑building introduction to off‑road travel. These routes use gentle, well‑maintained lanes with firm surfaces, mild gradients, and wide passing points, making them ideal for beginners or anyone wanting a scenic, low‑stress day out. You’ll still enjoy beautiful countryside views and the fun of convoy driving, but without technical obstacles or challenging terrain. It’s all about taking in the landscape and enjoying a friendly, supportive atmosphere. You’ll have plenty of time to get comfortable with your vehicle off‑tarmac and settle into the rhythm of green laning at a calm, enjoyable pace.

Intermediate – Stepping Up – Yorkshire Dales – £65 per day

On our intermediate‑level green laning routes, drivers can expect a more engaging and varied off‑road experience that builds naturally on the confidence gained from beginner lanes. These routes introduce uneven surfaces, deeper ruts, tighter gateways, and steeper climbs or descents, offering a satisfying challenge without becoming overly technical. You’ll still enjoy the same supportive convoy atmosphere, but with more opportunities to practice wheel placement, controlled throttle, and steady progress through trickier sections. It’s a great way to stretch your skills, experience more adventurous terrain, and enjoy the countryside from lanes that feel a little wilder and more remote. You’ll come away with a stronger sense of capability and a real taste of what green laning is all about.

Advanced – Challenging Trails – Lake District – £75 per day

On our advanced‑level green laning routes, drivers can expect a far more demanding and technical off‑road experience designed for those who are confident, capable, and ready for a proper challenge. These routes feature steep, uneven climbs, deep ruts, rocky sections, tight manoeuvring points, and terrain that may require careful wheel placement, recovery techniques, and steady nerves. You’ll still benefit from the same supportive convoy environment, but with a stronger emphasis on teamwork, spotting, and controlled driving through genuinely tricky obstacles. It’s an opportunity to push your skills, your vehicle, and your confidence to a new level while exploring some of the most rugged and rewarding lanes available. You’ll finish the day with a real sense of achievement and a deeper understanding of what true off‑road capability feels like

Extreme – Serious Off-Roading – North Wales £95 per day

On our extreme‑level green laning routes, drivers can expect the most demanding, technical, and adrenaline‑fuelled terrain we offer, reserved only for those with strong off‑road experience and fully prepared vehicles. These routes feature severe gradients, deep ruts, rock steps, water crossings, tight switchbacks, and obstacles that require precise control, confident decision‑making, and often coordinated spotting or recovery. You’ll still be supported by an experienced lead vehicle, but the emphasis shifts heavily toward teamwork, communication, and advanced driving technique as you tackle genuinely tough sections. It’s the ultimate test of skill, nerve, and vehicle capability, taking you into wild, rugged landscapes that few drivers ever experience. You’ll finish with a huge sense of accomplishment and a story‑worthy day that pushes the boundaries of what green laning can be
